Disney's Aladdin
Disney's Aladdin on the Game Boy Advance is Capcom's port of its 1993 Super Nintendo platformer, based on the 1992 animated film. It came out in Japan in 2003 and in Europe and North America in 2004. You guide Aladdin through side-scrolling stages that follow the film, jumping on enemies, throwing apples and collecting gems. The original was designed by Shinji Mikami and became Capcom's best-selling SNES game after Street Fighter II.

What Disney's Aladdin is
Two very different Aladdin games came out in 1993. Virgin made one for the Sega Genesis in which Aladdin swings a sword. Capcom made its own for the Super Nintendo, focused on acrobatic platforming, and this Game Boy Advance release is a port of that Capcom game. Aladdin has no sword here, so he deals with enemies by bouncing on them or throwing apples.
Reviews of the SNES original praised its graphics, animation and tight controls, though some felt it was easier than expected from Capcom. The levels move through the story of the film, from the streets of Agrabah to the Cave of Wonders and beyond, with gems to collect along the way that add to your score and earn extra lives.
How it plays in your browser
The game runs in a Game Boy Advance emulator on this page, so you can start straight away. Movement is precise, and much of the challenge comes from timing jumps rather than fighting.
Apples are your only ranged attack, so it pays to keep a supply. Treasure chests in the stages lead to bonus rounds with Genie, where you can win extra rewards. Because the game is not especially long or punishing, it works well for a short session in the browser.
Arrow keys move Aladdin, and Z and X cover jumping and throwing apples; Enter is Start.
Tips worth knowing
- Jump on enemies where you can and save apples for foes that are awkward to reach.
- Collect gems as you go. They add to your score and help you earn extra lives.
- Look out for treasure chests, which open bonus stages with Genie and extra rewards.
- Take platforming sections slowly. Most falls come from rushing a jump rather than from enemies.
- In the faster chase and escape stages, watch ahead for obstacles so you can react in time.
