What Ford Racing is

Ford Racing began as a PC game by Elite Systems in 2000, and the PlayStation release followed with its own developer and a slightly smaller selection of cars and courses. It was the first of several Ford Racing games and is built around the idea of racing everyday road cars rather than exotic supercars.

Career mode is the heart of the game. You race for sponsors, and prize money from good finishes goes into improving your car. Winning moves you up to more powerful Fords. None of the tracks are based on real locations, and after each race you can watch a replay from different camera angles. Reviews at the time were mixed.

How it plays in your browser

This page runs the North American disc in a PlayStation emulator, so you can race without the original hardware. Besides career mode, you can jump into a single race, and the PlayStation version also includes a multiplayer option.

Because you start in a small car, the early races are more about clean driving than raw speed. Staying off the grass and out of the walls matters, and the money from those first wins is what makes the later, faster cars competitive.

Tips worth knowing

  • Spend early prize money on upgrades for your starting car rather than saving it; better finishes bring bigger payouts.
  • The Ford Ka is slow, so brake early and focus on clean corner exits to keep momentum.
  • Learn each fictional track in single race mode before tackling it in career mode, where results affect your money.
  • Watch the post-race replay from different cameras to see where you ran wide or lost time.
  • Avoid contact with rival cars in tight corners; a spin costs far more than a cautious line.
